When Emile de Antonio met Warhol at the beginning of the 1960s, he was a former college professor who was associated with Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg. He helped promote Warhol's early Pop paintings, forging a connection to Eleanor Ward, who gave Warhol a ground-breaking show at the Stable Gallery. De Antonio was simultaneously beginning his career making films, including Point of Order, Underground, and Painters Painting. De Antonio appears in Warhol's movie, Drunk.
