When Susan Pile left the Factory in 1968, she introduced her Barnard friend, Pat Hackett, to the Factory. She began working there in the fall of 1968, initially transcribing tapes of Andy's constant recording activity, and continuing through the early Interview years. Most importantly, she redacted Andy’s voice for print; she was largely responsible for writing Popism and The Philosophy of Andy Warhol.
