Gerard Malanga met Warhol in June 1963 and immediately began working as his assistant on the silk screens. He soon brought many others to the Factory, especially through his connections to the poetry and fashion world. He worked at the Factory (with a hiatus from fall 1967-summer 1968) until 1970 and the beginning of Interview. Malanga is a poet, a film maker, and a photographer. He performed in many Factory films (including Vinyl, Harlot, and Camp) as well as films by Barbara Rubin and Gregory Markopoulos.
