By the time Paul Morrissey met Andy Warhol in July 1965, he had already made several films and showed independent films in a storefront. He was a key force over the next few years, coordinating moves and managing the Velvet Underground. In the summer of 1968 he began making "Factory style" movies that were commercially far more popular than Warhol's films. The Sixties films, Flesh and Trash, made stars of Joe Dallesandro, Holly Woodlawn, Candy Darling, and others.
