Jack Smith was obsessed with the 'moldy' aesthetic of Maria Montez and B-movies, and is widely considered a visionary genius of underground film. His most famous film, Flaming Creatures, was a focus of the culture wars of 1964, and he also made Normal Love and No President. Warhol learned a lot from observing Smith and used several of Smith’s Cinemaroc stars. Smith appeared in several Factory films, including Batman/Dracula and Camp.
