Valerie Solanas & Tom Baker

(born April 6, 1936—April 25, 1988)

When Valerie Solanas came into the Factory orbit in early 1967, she made a living as a panhandler, but aspired to being a writer, and at this time began writing The SCUM Manifesto and promoting a production of her play, Up Your Ass. On June 3, 1968, she shot Warhol. In the years since the shooting, and since her death, Valerie Solanas has become a cultural icon, popularized through the film I Shot Andy Warhol.
