(born Pittsburgh August 6, 1928—February 22, 1987)

Following a highly successful career as a commercial artist, Andy Warhol pursued a "high art" career in 1960, and his most famous Pop work was created over the next five years. He began working at the Silver Factory in January 1964 and continued there for the next four years. In 1965 he declared that he was leaving art to focus on movies. Although he didn’t adhere to this in any strict way, the mid-Sixties was dominated by his movie collaborations.
